Prof. Tamara Galloway

Tamara is Professor of Ecotoxicology at the University of Exeter.
Her research focuses on how organisms adapt and survive in polluted environments and she studies the health effects of priority global pollutants, including microplastics and chemical additives in plastics.
Her work on how plastics enter the food web has been highly influential in informing international policies to protect the environment and she has won many awards, including an OBE, Queen’s Anniversary Prize 2020 and Volvo Environment Prize 2022.
She has been listed by Clarivate as one of the ‘World’s Most Highly Cited Researchers’ since 2017.
